Title: Chart of the World upon Mercator's Projection

Date: 1835 Size: 94x166cm. Price: sold

Condition: Very good. Faint scattered spotting. Large folding, dissected map mounted on original cloth, with original slip-case (rubbed). Original hand colouring. Shows the tracks of various explorers, discoveries in the Antarctic etc.

Apart from the David Rumsey copy,  this is the only known example of this map. No edition is listed in Sir H.G. Fordham's bibliography of John Cary. Not in British Library lists. The David Rumsey collection has the 1819 edition. Our copy is an updated version of this map. John Cary died in 1835.
